Presentation at the International Conference (9.-10. October 2025)

Ida Ograjšek Gorenjak took part in the international conference The Campus and Beyond: Higher Education and Social Inequalities in Europe and North America, 1890s–2000s, held in Washington. On this occasion, she delivered a presentation titled „Breaking Barriers: Women in Croatian Higher Education (1892–1940)“.

New Publication:

The new issue of the journal Radovi Zavoda za hrvatsku povijest 56/3 (The Journal of the Institute of Croatian History 56/3) features an article by Zrinka Nikolić Jakus and Ida Ograjšek Gorenjak titled "Ženska povijest Odsjeka za povijest" (Women’s History of the Department of History). In their paper, the authors analyze the development of interest in women’s history at the Department of History, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, in the context of broader trends in (Croatian) historiography and the history of the Department itself.

Presentation at the academic symposium (26–27 September 2025)

Zrinka Nikolić Jakus participated in the scientific symposium Od Biograda do Ćokovca: 900 godina od rušenja benediktinske kraljevske opatije (1125.–2025.) (From Biograd to Ćokovac: 900 Years Since the Destruction of the Benedictine Royal Abbey, 1125–2025), where she gave a presentation entitled „Ženski benediktinski samostani 11. stoljeća u komparativnoj perspektivi“ (Women’s Benedictine Monasteries of the 11th Century in a Comparative Perspective).

New Publication:

The latest volume of Omnia Tempus Revelant: Proceedings (Ljubljana: Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, 2025) features a new article by Inga Vilogorac Brčić, titled “Isis and Serapis in Poetovio.” Based on epigraphic evidence, inscriptions, and figurines, the author explores the development, significance, and causes of the worship of the goddess Isis in the Roman province of Pannonia.

Presentation at the International Conference (2. - 6. September 2025)

Inga Vilogorac Brčić participated in the 31st EAA Belgrade Virtual Annual Meeting, held online, where she presented paper titled “The Altars from Isis' Sanctuary in Caska at the Island of Pag.”

Presentation at the International Conference (25- 27 July 2025)

Marijana Kardum participated in the international conference 7th Global Conference on Women’s Studies in Copenhagen, where she gave a presentation entitled “A Sisterhood, but in Conflict: Women’s Movements in East Central Europe.”

Presentation at the International Conference (21- 25 June 2025):

Ana Batinić participated in the 27th Biennial International Research Society for Children’s Literature (IRSCL) Conference in Salamanca, where she presented the paper "Between Borders – Croatian Children's Author Štefa Jurkić as a Subject of History."

Participation in Exhibition

Ida Ograjšek Gorenjak participated in the opening of the exhibition “Between the Corset and the Jersey: Women in Sports (1874–1939)” at the Croatian Sports Museum in the Museum of the City of Zagreb. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog of the same name, which includes a text by Ida Ograjšek Gorenjak and Mirjam Vide Blagojević entitled “Women and the Female Body in Movements of the 19th and 20th Centuries.”

Project Presentation

On Wednesday, May 28, as part of the Croatian Science Foundation Project Day, our project was presented in the council room of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. Team members who took part in the presentation were Andrea Feldman, Zrinka Nikolić Jakus, Ida Ograjšek Gorenjak, Luka Špoljarić, Mirjam Vida Blagojević, and Inga Vilogorac Brčić. We also took the opportunity to hold a brief working meeting.

Presentation at the International Conference (May 14–16, 1925)

From May 14 to 16, 2025, the international scientific conference Strade di Sabbia: Genti, contatti, influenze tra Roma e l'Egitto was held at the Roman Forum, organized by the Colosseum Archaeological Park and the University of Toulouse. Inga Vilogorac Brčić presented a paper on the connections between Rome and Egypt in the Roman province of Dalmatia, with particular focus on Calpurnia Piso, a devotee of Egyptian deities on the island of Pag.

Following the roundtable discussion, we also presented our project. The speakers at the event were Ana Batinić, Marijana Kardum, Zrinka Nikolić Jakus, Ida Ograjšek Gorenjak, Mária Pakucs, and Mirjam Vida Blagojević.

Roundtable Discussion Held

On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, as part of Kliofest, a roundtable discussion titled „Žene i povijesne mijene – izazovi povijesti žena u prošlosti i sadašnjosti“ ("Women and Historical Change – Challenges of Women’s History in the Past and Present") was held. Participants included Ida Ograjšek Gorenjak (moderator), Marijana Kardum, Zrinka Nikolić Jakus, Jelena Marohnić, and Mária Pakucs.

Round Table and Public Presentation of the Project:

As part of Kliofest, a round table and public presentation of the project, titled Žene i povijesne mijene – izazovi povijesti žena u prošlosti i sadašnjosti (Women and Historical Change – Challenges of Women’s History in the Past and Present), will be held at the National and University Library on Tuesday, 13 May, at 12 p.m.

Collection of Papers Presentation (25 April 2025)

Inga Vilogorac Brčić participated in the presentation of the collection Contextualizing ‘Oriental’ Cults: New Lights on the Evidence between the Danube and the Adriatic at the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb. The volume includes her article “Mithras and the Imperial Cult.”

Participation in International Scientific Conference (10–12 April 2025):

Ana Batinić presented her paper “Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić – pisma sinu Ivanu” (“Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić – Letters to Her Son Ivan”) at the 14th Rijeka Philological Days conference.

Presentation at International Conference (26–29 March 2025)

Zrinka Nikolić Jakus gave a presentation titled “Women of Zadar in Trade and Crafts” at the European Social Science History Conference (ESSHC) in Leiden.

Project Meeting:

 The first project meeting was held at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, on 11 March 2025 at 2 p.m.

Participation in Exhibition

Ida Ograjšek Gorenjak took part in the opening ceremony of the exhibition Historija zaborava – Prve žene zagrebačkih muzeja (The History of Oblivion – The First Women of Zagreb Museums) at the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb. Her text, “Na raskrižju tradicije i modernosti – obrazovane žene u međuratnoj Hrvatskoj” (“At the Crossroads of Tradition and Modernity – Educated Women in Interwar Croatia”), was published in the exhibition catalogue.
